I realise that every other tab under the ‘About Me’ section only relates to my ‘University self’ (these pages have now been deleted). But let me tell you a little bit about ME, my personality, my likes and dislikes rather than me and my academic achievements. More of an extended tinder bio than any thing else…
Who I am
Personality wise I would say I am a confident person, I love talking to people and having a laugh. Although sometimes I feel I can be quite over powering, but I think is it just my way of dealing with being nervous. You will find me at my happiest when I am surrounded by a group of close friends reminiscing on old memories. I think I have quite a hard sense of humour to crack but once we get along we will get along forever. I am a massive overthink-er so if you give me a problem I will think of 100s of possible explanations for it.
I think my worst trait is being pessimistic. The glass is only occasionally half full. One of my closest friends is the biggest optimist I have ever met and he is the what made me realise just how pessimistic I am. However, now I have recognised this as being my worst trait I do find myself re-evaluating situations and trying to see the positive side of them. That being said, sometimes I think it is important to not be too optimistic as it can leave you feeling deflated when things do not go to plan.
What I enjoy
I really enjoy having routine in my life, more than anything and find it so satisfying when I get into a routine that allows me to have balance in every aspect of my life (work, social and fitness). Fitness is the one I find most hard to have religiously in my routine but when I do I love it and it exercising always makes me feel so good. I got into fitness in summer of 2016, when I realised how much weight I managed to gain in my first year, so I decided to sign up for the Great South Run. This was a massive achievement for me. Doing that run made me realise that in order to push myself I need a challenge to be working towards. Currently, going to the gym and doing gym classes is probably my favourite way of exercising. I’m trying to get into cycling as well, I much prefer it to running as you get to cover so much more distance and therefore see so much more! I’m also in the process of applying for a ski season at the moment!
I also enjoy travelling, exploring new places, seeing amazing views and tasting amazing food. I reallllly want to do more. I go on family holidays with my family every year but we tend to go to the same places year on year (a sport resort in Lanzarote or somewhere in the Alps). Since going to Australia I have had this realisation that there is sooo much more out there, so many more places to explore and I can’t wait to do more of that in the future. I’m going to Toronto in a couple of weeks which I am really excited for. Next on my list is South America!
My perfect evening is spent EITHER:
- going to a pub with friends and getting to the right level of drunk where you just find everything hilarious and end up in a kebab shop ridiculously early wondering how you got so drunk while everyone else is so sober OR
- lying in my bed for hours, diet coke in hand/cup of tea, binge watching a series.
And finally, technology. I’ve always been into computers, gadgets, clicking about on websites to find out how things work and seeing how tech is changing our lives. If anything ever goes wrong with my grandads computer I am always the first person he asks to fix it (even though my dad works in the computer industry!…I think I have more patience than him). Before going to University I considered doing computer science or some sort of engineering but was put off because I thought it would it would be too hard and ‘was a boys subject’. So here I am, writing a blog about it because don’t think it is ‘a boys subject’ at all anymore.
A few of my favourite things:
- Season: Autumn – the sunsets are always so much better than any other time of the year
- Food: Was chicken pie however I have recently become a vegetarian so now I would probably have to say vegetarian lasagne.
- Drink: Diet coke I actually love it so much
- Favourite place I’ve visited: Wineglass bay in Tasmania, it was insane.
- Musical: I love musicals and my favourite is probably Calamity Jane.
What I don’t enjoy
Bananas, loud eaters, slow drivers/walkers and having curly hair.
