Today is International Women’s Day, the 8th of March. International Women’s day is a day to celebrate and remember the cultural, political and socio-economical achievements of women throughout history. I know this post is coming at the end of the day but I spent my day collating together some of my favourite posts about what it is to be a woman and International Woman’s Day.
To any girl out there that is ever told that you are ‘too’ something, keep on doing you and don’t let anyone ever tell you that being ‘too much’ is a bad thing. Which brings me on to the next quote from Serena Williams, who has heard all too many times through out her career that she is ‘too’ passionate, ‘too competitive’ and ‘too aggressive’.
We must remember to hype each other up rather than tear each other down.
If anyone ever makes you feel small, remember that you are POWERFUL.
One of my favourite poems by one of my favourite poets (read: only poets I know), Rupi Kaur.
Not just to my mum, or my sister, but to allll the women nannys, teachers, friends etc thank you for shaping me into who I am today.
So so important – if your feminism isn’t intersectional, it’s not feminism. Intersectional feminism is the belief that ALL women should be equal, black women, white women, disabled women, trans women.
Different to my usual posts but important none the less.
